Offensive Stars –
Star No. 2 – Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers – Big Ben was 8 for 12 for 125 yards and 2TDs with a 140 QB rating. He dominated in his two possessions on the field against the “Dream Team” as Vince Youngcalled them.
Star No. 3 – Colt McCoy, QB, Cleveland Browns – McCoy was awesome this week, posting a 10-18 performance with 96 yards and 3 TDs. The future looks bright for him as a real QB and a fantasy QB.
Honorable Mentions: Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Drew Stanton, Evan Moore (CLE), John Beck, Tim Hightower, Lee Evans, David Reed (BAL), Luke McCown (JAC), Matt Flynn, Aaron Rodgers, Graham Harrel, Rob Housler, Gerald Jones, Arian Foster, Ben Tate, Andre Johnson, Mark Sanchez, Tom Brady,Armond Smith (CLE), Roy Helu, Reggie Bush, Harry Douglas, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Jamie Harper,Kendall Hunter, Kyle Orton, Philip Rivers (I know this is a ton of HM’s but there were so many impressive performances and I wanted to make sure I got everyone on here. In the future, I will try and limit it to 3 to 7 HM’s per week but will occasionally go up to 10 HM’s on certain weeks.)
Defensive Stars – Darian Scott (WAS), Dan Connor (CAR), Thomas Williams (CAR), Ladarius Webb (BAL),M.D. Jennings (GB), Kyle Arrington (NE), Elbert Mack (TB), Kurt Coleman (PHI), Donovan Warren (PIT),Keenan Lewis, Terrence McGee (BUF), Perrish Cox (DEN), Marcus Sherels (MIN),
Star No. 2 – Troy Polamalu, SS, Pittsburgh Steelers – Polamalu played for just one and a half quarters but had one interception and almost had two more. He looks healthy and fast as ever.
Honorable Mentions: Darian Scott (WAS), Dan Connor (CAR), Thomas Williams, Ladarius Webb (BAL), M.D. Jennings (GB), Kyle Arrington (NE), Elbert Mack (TB), Kurt Coleman (PHI), Donovan Warren (PIT), Keenan Lewis, Terrence McGee (BUF), Perrish Cox (DEN), Marcus Sherels (MIN)
Dud of the Week – Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles – This was not even close. Vick was an awful 5 for 12 with just 47 yards and 3 INTs. He completed 37.5% of his passes to the Pittsburgh Steelers and posted a pathetic QB rating of 13.5.
Honorable Mentions: Ryan Fitzpatrick – Fitzpatrick posted a woeful 19.5 QB rating but “only” had 1 INT compared to Vick’s 3. Andy Dalton – Dalton was equally as bad, if not worse than Fitzpatrick posting a 16.4 QB Rating with 2 INT’s. I have never seen three horrible QB performances in one week.
If you guys think one of your players had a week worth mentioning, give him a shoutout in the comments section. This week was very tough for offense since there were so many players worthy of making the list. Again, I don’t think there will be anybody I missed that could unseat Vick from DOW. That has consistently been the easiest thing to pick as there has been one awful QB each of the first two weeks. But as always, it’s possible I missed somebody so make sure to comment and tell me what you think.
Also, here are the list of players who have shown up in both weeks.
- Philip Rivers – 1 HM and 1 SOW (star of the week)
- Colt McCoy – 1 HM and 1 SOW
Right now it is a two man race for pre-season player of the year but I think Brady, Big Ben, and a few others could make comebacks in the last two weeks.
