Free Agency Thread

Update #12: Chad Henne signs a 2 year deal with the Jaguars. I predict him to be starting before week 6.

Update #11: The Cardinals have signed OG/OT Adam Snyder to a five year deal and the Patriots have signed DT Jonathan Fanene to a 3 year deal. He is a good rotational player so as long as they did not over pay him, it would be a good signing

Update #10: Leron McClain has signed a 3 year deal with the Chargers. Sounds like Mike Tolbert will be moving on.

Update #9: Peyton Hillis signs with the Chiefs. No terms released but pairing him with Charles seems like a great move. According to Adam Schefter, it is a one year $3 million deal. In news related to the draft, I just can’t see a way where the Browns don’t take Trent Richardson. Can’t go into the 2012-2013 season with the team they have.

Update #8 – Laurent Robinson signs a 5 year 32.5 million dollar deal. That is just utter insanity. WRs are getting paid today. Jags still need a #1 WR as Robinson is not that

Update #7 – Paul Soliai, the top NT in free agency, resigns with the Dolphins. Terms not released but this is a good move for the Dolphins no matter what they paid him.

Update #6: DeSean Jackson resigns with the Eagles for 5 years and $51 million. Also, the first couple updates have been moved below the jump

Update: Carl Nicks to Tampa Bay, Robert Meachem to San Diego. Meachem gets a ridiculous 4 years and $28 million. That is just insane. Bucs are using there money well to help the future of that franchise. Mario Williams is rumored to be going to the Bills but nothing is official yet. In other news, John Carlson signed an insane 5 years and $25 million contract with the Vikings. Why are such mediocre players getting such huge contracts?

Update #2: Eric Wright gets 5 years and $37.5 million from the Bucs. That is just insane. Cory Redding signs with the Colts for a 3 year $10 million deal. Not bad. Jared Gaither resigns with the Chargers. Terms not released. The Chargers also signed Jarret Johnson.

Update #3: I just saw that Calvin Johnson got an absolutely insane deal. 7 years $132 million and $60 million guaranteed. That is just insane. I know Calvin is a great player but that is QB money. That is an average of $18.6 million a year. That is I don’t even know. Wow. I doubt many teams will franchise WR’s anymore with Fitzgerald and Johnson’s contracts ripping the average up higher.

Update #4: The Browns have signed former Bengals DE Frostee Rucker to a 5 year $20 million deal. Seems like a lot to pay but Rucker is a good player and fits the scheme. Also, Martellus Bennet signed a 1 year $2.5 million deal with the Giants. Good move for the Giants as they will need a TE because of injuries at the position.

Update #5: Brandon Carr signs with Dallas for 5 years and $50 million. Same contract as Cortland Finnegan got. Seems about right.

Early on in free agency and two WR’s cashed in big. Vincent Jackson signed a 5 year deal with the Bucs, filling one of their biggest needs and eliminating Justin Blackmon from the draft picture for the Bucs at #5. The Redskins landed Pierre Garcon to a #1 Wideout deal (I hate the deal) and paid him about 42.5 million for 5 years. That likely takes them out of the race for an early WR, though they don’t have many picks left.

In breaking news, the Rams just signed Cortland Finnegan to a 5 year 50 million dollar deal. This reunites Finnegan with Jeff Fisher and gives the Rams a true #1 CB.

More breaking news – Reggie Wayne resigned with the Colts. 3 year deal. Terms not released.

Editors Note: I will be updating this thread as more and more free agency stuff happens. No point in having multiple threads for all this stuff. Comment and give your thoughts and opinions on the signings.
